#vdaywithmummasaurus this is what I had posted on my stories. Thank you @mummasaurus1 for organising this. ☺
#madrasartguild2019 was such a welcome art expo in Chennai, am sure those of you who attended will agree! They had absolutely lovely artworks on display and the art bazaar that I attended made me go on a super shopping spree after so so many months, probably since Tigger was born! Hoping to catch many more such wonderful events. Thank you for this @vr.chennai Swipe to see pictures from the stalls
Ajnis was a happy and a proud mom of little Sam. She made sure Sam was a respectful, understanding and a kind kid. There weren't any medals or trophies in her hall showcase, but only pictures of Sam being a typical happy kid who had then become a well mannered, friendly, interested-in-everything-from-coding-to-donating-from-dance-to-master chef level-cooking teen. One day Sam brought home a friend who was dressed a little different and Ajnis immediately looked at Sam's friend wondering if the little kid was a girl or a boy. Sam looked at Ajnis and as if her thoughts were spoken aloud, Sam immediately announced, "This is Jay ma. Ze is Queer and hasn't figured out what gender ze belongs to" "What? How hard is that asked Ajnis?" She immediately realised how rude that sounded and apologized. After a few minutes of silence, she asked about Jay's parents and their thoughts on the same! That's when Jay explained quite casually. "Mom was a little panicked and my dad explained it to me. He sat me down and told me what each gender was and asked me how I was feeling and when I told him all the different things that I was feeling and thinking about, he told me how that was completely normal. By then my mom had calmed down and came sat with us to talk. We spoke about many many things and came to the decision that it wasn't necessary to be black or white. There are so many colours that make the world pretty and I can be any colour as long as I am happy and truthful to myself. So, I am still figuring out who I am, just like how I and my friends are figuring out which college to go to!" Ajnis felt so many different emotions at the same time. She marvelled at how beautifully Jay spoke with confidence. But her eyes kept darting to Sam who sat quietly next to Jay holding Jay's hands as if to give strength and support. She realized that she was lucky to have a kid who understood things that, she took some time to warm up to. She smiled and told Jay again, how sorry she was for her initial reaction. She also told Jay how happy she was to have met someone like zir and told Sam that she was happy that Sam brought Jay home and went to continue her chores. Continued in comments⤵
*Disciplining the child* ~pic description: trigger dressed in ethnic clothes and standing with his hands pressed together as if to say "vanakkam" (namaste) ____________ When you are a parent, you have your own idea of what kind of aren't you want to be. You have references from your childhood or movies or stories that left an impression on you on how you would be. But when you actually become a parent, you realize that you aren't the only person they are around. There will be an uncle, aunt, grandma, grandpa, cousin, and many many new relationships that a newborn immediately acquires. And each of these many people try to be the kind of adult they are or hey want to be around your kid. When they see the little one fall down and get hurt, they rush to scoop him up and hit the spot he fell down before talking to him. When your child fake-cries for a toy, they find him cute and immediately force the older brother to share the toy. When the child runs around in a diaper, they jump in to say "why are you still not potty trained?" And that's when the parent jumps in and stops the relative. Right? And that is exactly when the relative thinks "yeah right? As if I haven't seen children grow!" Right? And that's when the parent rolls eyes so hard that it goes to the back if their head. Right? And what about the child? That's exactly when he is wondering what on earth is happening around him 🙄😲 Any such elephants you have hidden under a big tarp? Image courtesy: Google Quote courtesy: @tina_fey_official A mom needs her sleep but doesn't need to have a reason why! No matter how old the child is - nursing baby, older toddler, tween, teen or a humungous adult, when a mom is expected to care for the human that she created, she must also care for herself! Especially when the little ones are small, almost every mom function many days after just 4 to 5 hours of sleep. Some lucky moms get 7 hrs but then they also go through the sleepless cycle during each toothing phase, sickness or any such growth stage of the baby. But why does this sleep need to be justified? To a spouse, parent, parent(s)-in- law, any other relative or coll-in-law kid kept me up last night, so am tired and sleepy today! Why does a mom feel the need to feel like she owes anyone an explanation? Why can't she just rest when she can without having to justify her reasons for doing so? - a sleep deprived mom who had a rough morning!
